Me vs. Lenny Henry Page 2

I might have to try America ...

Try New York. If you can make it there, you can make it anywhere. Apparently.

Laughing out loud

If you want to know what RRR is like, there's a sample script for one of the episodes on the BBC Writer's Room site. Chances are *they* wouldn't go for another sitcom with the same setting so soon, no matter how strong the writing was. It's just one of those things you have to deal with when you're submitting stuff on spec (and why you need to keep an eye on recent/current sitcoms. In other words, research the medium).

Still pass it around if you're happy with it though. If the writing is strong, you'd just be asked to submit something else.

Yep.

Come on guys put another record on.

I also once wrote a pilot set in a record shop, based loosely on my own experiences working for Our Price Records.

Fortunately it was shit, so I didn't experience any of these problems.

And just to add, MTV used to have these little comedy sketches with Robin Ince and Ricky Gervais set in a record shop in between the music.

I hate record shops, particularly independent ones with their members of staff that snigger at your purchases. I'd love to see each and every one of them transformed into a Tesco Express.

Were the Gervais/Ince sketches any good? Are they on YouTube?

Why are you being stubborn about moving it to another location, Catskillz? Why don't you want to rewrite jokes to fit?

They were very short and a bit bleak, but they did raise a laugh. I've never seen them repeated anywhere though.
