Rev - Series 1 Page 8

Stupid Rev wants to have his cake and eat it. He has sexy wife at home, shouldn't need haughty teacher lady as well. Greedy.

I like Olivia Colman, but there's no way she can compete with the Headmistress. That woman is sex on plate.

Perhaps not. But the Rev married her in the first place so he must have found her quite saucy!

Saucy-shmaucy! You marry them, they start looking a bit long in the tooth, you divorce them and get a younger model! That's just the way it is! :)

That's men for you.

I'd check what Aaron's up to when you don't see him.

:(

Olivia Colman's in it? From Beautiful People?

Do I finally get a bit of Debbie Doonan back in my life?

Yes, she is in it. Check our guide.

Is his name, Smallbone, supposed to be a gag?

Was wondering that myself. It's very Dick Emery isn't it? Reverend Smallbone. Maybe it'll be explained later. Hope the name wasn't just the result of an earlier more "sitcommy" incarnation of the script - and it just stuck. Because that would be a bit rubbish.

I'm loving this, Tom Hollander is fantastic, he plays the "Rev" with a lovely mixture of naivety and misguided sincerity and Ollie Collie is a brilliant foil as his long suffering wife.

The other characters are all excellent too, Colin (I love his constand references to "Vicarage" and "Mrs Vicarage", the Deacon (is he really gay?), Miles Jupp's character, the black woman in the congregation (sorry I'm rubbish with names), all very well played and come across as well rounded archetypes not cliched stereotypes.

The laughs aren't forced and come naturally from a brilliantly written and performed script.

Am enjoying this immensely, it's possibly the best sitcom I've seen in several years, like an urban "Vicar of Dibley", only funny.

I thought the name was possibly an ironic reference to Hollander's height.

Wow. Just goes to show how tastes can vary. I agree with all you just said except the "funny" bit. I'm clearly in the minority though.

I can honestly say that there are two things on telly right now which make me actually, physically laugh out loud, one is "Rev" and the other is "The Ricky Gervais Show".

I watched episode 3 of "Rev" yesterday and properly belly laughed 3 or 4 times, personally I think it's very, very funny.

I saw a bit of this last night and thought it was pretty good. I'd happily watch again but I wouldn't exactly say I would structure my night's viewing around it.

Did anyone spot the Vicar of Dibley character in this? Simon McBurney who was playing the Archdeacon in Rev was the choirmaster in Dibley.

I really like it, but it doesn't get any big laughs from me, no.

Agree completely.

The first episode was a bit more low-key and I wasn't sure if it was going to work, but the second and third have had me in stitches. It's the little subtle things and asides that keep me laughing and the humour appeals to me greatly.

Episode 2 was brill and this one was nearly as good.

Excellent! Love it.
