Most disappointing/unresolved endings to sitcom... Page 4

The ending of Green Wing - because I wanted Caroline to go with Guy, not Mac.

Me too.

Me three! Mac had turned into a bit of an arsehole. At least with Guy you knew where you stood. (Plus Tamsin and Stephen had oodles of chemistry)

Oooooooooodles!

Tis a shame Langham never got a proper send off in The Thick Of It. Would it have killed them to bring him back for one last glorious half hour?

Those bastards.

Ooh, yes. I remember a season of Oz where one of the main characters sealed himself into a coffin to escape prison. Then next season he was still in prison with no mention of how his coffin-escape plan had gone! My mouth was agape.

That was Augustus Hill, the narrator. Being the narrator, rules of logical plot progression didn't apply to him.

I'm sure I read somewhere that it was the writers who decided not to carry on, though, rather than the channel.

I think Andrew Davies wrote the final series alone, the other writer having moved on. And it was a rather final ending, what with Samantha Janus's fiance not making it to their wedding.

Probably. He would have been shot or stabbed by someone who was against him having child pornography.

Luckily they should have the same chemistry in Episodes.

You say that Goodnight Sweetheart had an unresolved ending-but surely during the whole thing you could see that Gary was going off Yvonne. To end up with Phoebe would surely be what should happen.

Goodnight Sweetheart did have a resolved ending, it was just a bit of a dull one.

Gary didn't go off Yvvone. He always loved her but overall he felt that should he have to choose then he would choose Phoebe as her and Mihael needed him more.

Yvvone had her own business and could easily live without him.

Also Yvvone had a deep love for Gary as even though she finds out everything, she still wants him back. They loved each other still but were not dependent on each other.

But in the end he had no choice to make anyway

"But in the end he had no choice to make anyway."

But doesn't that describe a lot of people's 'choices'?

I think you're reading too much into it. Gary and Yvonne drifted apart, nuff said.

He had no choice to make in the end as the choice was made for him. You clearly see that they still wanted to be with each other at the end of the episode, but that it took them being separated to realise that.
