Just sent some stuff off. Got a similar response to you ajp. If anyone hears anything further down the road be sure to let us know.
Interesting opportunity for writers Page 2
I saw an advert on the web a while ago and applied for it. Comedy Writers for Radio Scotland. I went to an open session, and they requested sketchs for their new sketch show they were producing. Over 200 people turned up over 2 days. I handed in my sketches in the allotted time, but have heard nothing back.
Their plan was to review all sketches and select people they thought could write well. These people would be called back for a short 12 to 1 training session, then asked to submit more sketches. This would continue until there was only a few people left, and they would be offered jobs.
Looks like I may have wasted an afternoon if their just going to sub-contract it
What does sub contract mean? This could be the same sort of thing, just advertising in a different place.
Sub Contract is when you have a job to do, and you bring someone in to do it for you. In business it's often cheaper or easier to get someone else to do the donkey work for you

Basically not having to sign people up permantently, just on a short-term basis, per project type thing. They save money as they don't have to pay for your holidays, tax, employee benefits etc. and the sub-contracter usually gets paid more because of this and the short term nature of the work.
Gotcha
This certianly is an interesting opourtunity. Gotta go - I've got some sketches to submit!
Does anyone know what do they mean by 'i-dents'? Cheers.
Good call Shoepie!

From what I gather it's the little bits that pop inbetween skatches, probably with the shows name on it.
I think the excellent channel four moving picture things (Do you know what I mean?) are I-dents.

Yeah, that's right. Idents are the bits sandwiched in-between the programme and the ads. Often the show's sponsors... like the 118 118 stuff. I'm currently working on some idents now.
thanks guys
Just thought I'd let you know that I had a reply from Charlotte, and a sketch I sent has gone into the posible pile.
Off now to send more.
It looks like everyone gets the same reply to me.
I sent a bunch of sketches and Charlotte said she really enjoyed them and they have gone on to the possible pile.
Pity we don't have the sketch project in a more ready position to send our stuff out.
