Genius - Series 2
I was one of the Geniuses/Geni(?) at the first show with Chris Addison and Mel Giedroyc.
The format has changed a lot, rather than have 4 or 5 people pitching their ideas there was about 70-80 of us, some of whom got focussed on, and others who got to pitch their idea in a "quickfire" style round.
Chris Addison and Dave Gorman were very funny, Mel less so, although she was amiable and proved to be quite a good foil for Chris to bounce things off of. Was glad I was on that one though rather than with Jane Moore and the Hairy Bikers!?!?!
They recorded tonnes of stuff so I'm assuming there'll be quite a lot of "Red Button" extras.
Should be very funny, look out for the guy in a white shirt sat in the front row next to the man who pitches the idea of a travel cape with huge pockets, that's me!
I love Mel!
Am looking forward to that one now. She's hardly ever on TV.
The first series was very poor compared to the radio version, I hope the new ones a lot better.
So show one, better, but they still don't have the confidence to just let the guests and the host chat. The quizy bit was very weak and limp.
I actually hated it. I wasn't a massive fan of Series 1 but thought it passable on the whole; but S2E1 just felt rushed, stripped of all its (meagre helpings of) charm, and really awkward to watch. I'd have liked them to explore some of the ideas a bit more, find some comedy in them, rather than going through them so quickly. It wasn't entirely void of humour, but it certainly was neither anything great, nor special.
Even Russell Howard annoyed me a couple of times, and I'm generally a fan of his.
Oh Russell Howard was on it? How many times did he say "Badger with an Asbo"?
Do Howard haters claim he says that continuously?
I don't know, I don't know many of them. It's a joke formula I notice he uses a LOT, and I went off him very quickly. I still laugh at him some times when he comes up with something new.

From my past experience, that phrase tends to be mostly said by the Daily Mail.
Uh oh D:
I saw this for the first time the other day. I thought it was really good, I enjoyed it (even though it had RH in it).
I also realised for the first time that I quite fancy Hazel Irvine! I really am getting old.
Watched this for the first time this week, and although not out of this world, eminently watchable. Russell Howard was involved and kept it going, whilst Gorman was a decent host. The show should spend more time however discussing each idea as opposed to moving on so quickly.
It was pretty good. Although I was distracted in the first ten minutes by the change.
I was aprehensive about the change, but it worked. I was also aprehensive about RH, but I didn't have to pay much attention to him.
