At least the announcers are now calling it "The Eye Tee Crowd"
instead of "The it Crowd"

Really used to annoy me, that did, made the announcer seem truly stupid & uneducated about computers.

I always felt that that was part of the joke.

A pointless one, if that was the case.

I'm glad they stay away from the computer references. Of course they have to have some but the reason I didn't like The Big Bang Theory is because it relies to heavily on them. "Oh, look he mentioned Poking on Facebook" Rolling eyes

In DVD commentaries for the first series Graham Linehan says either pronunciation is acceptable.

And so it should be.

You mental! The Big Bang Theory is a masterclass in how to do comedy referencing without alienating people who don't understand the references. Stewart Lee should watch it.

Yes, but I'm trying to say that referencing is lazy writing. You can just mention some pop-culture reference like iPod and expect a laugh. Needs a joke to go with it n that.

iPod

Laughing out loud

:D

I can't say he's ever mentioned anything I don't understand.

He might have said so but it's still pointless. It might have some point as a momentary joke withing the show, but for the link announcers to call it "The it Show" is pointless.

Those who know it should be Eye Tee will, IMO, simply think the announcer is a thick prat and those who don't know that it should by Eye Tee will be lost anyway wondering what the ferking heck 'it' is all about.

No they won't; "it crowd" is a well-known term to refer to 'cool' groups. Anyone who doesn't understand the term I.T. would consider it to be that. And most who do will have enjoyed the double-meaning of the title.

Yeah, for me it was all a bit <shrug> too, compared to earlier episodes. It was okay and did have some very funny moments, but it wasn't a classic episode and The Big Bang Theory does the whole geek thing much, much better.

Interesting; personally I prefer The IT Crowd by some margin, though TBBT can be very good, too. Even if Leonard is a really unlikeable lead character! A whiny, sarky git who seems to hate his friends! Still a funny show, though.

A meeting between Moss and Sheldon could be interesting.

You're a proper wrong'un sometimes, Stott!
