Tricky one, that.
There are plenty of good current shows, though many of them come from America rather than here.

Well I'm sure he asked his followers on Twitter if they got the joke and they all replied "Yes Mr Linehan, we get it and we think it's brilliant"!
(Or I could be wrong about it...but then, what other explanation is there for the jacket?)
Very obscure!
But no less funny, as long as you get it in the end.
(Thanks Jinky!)

The jackets certainly are similar. I wonder if he's sub-contracting the writing so he can spend even more time on bleedin' Twitter.

I didn't get it, but still found the suit funny when he walked in. I'm a simple, me.

Yes, that's true. Even places like 'Adult Swim' are producing some first-rate stuff.
Usually in 10 minute slots, though. Which doesn't really suit the UK format.
Now, if the IT Crowd was 10 minutes every week.....
Is this now Channel 4's longest running British sitcom? 'Father Ted' ran for 3 series, so did 'Black Books', 'Green Wing' had 2 series and a special. 'Smack the Pony' ran for 3 series and 2 specials. Actaully, it could be the second longest running after "Desmond's" (1989).
Smack The Pony wasn't a sitcom anyway.
And yes, Desmond's ran longer. 6 series plus another 2 for spinoff Porkpie, IIRC. Peep Show has also run for 6 series now, but with only half the episode count, and Drop The Dead Donkey also ranked up 6 series, with just six fewer episodes than Desmond's.
So in short - no.
Will Graham Linehan be writing any of the 5th series or will the team of writers replace him completely?

No, apparently that's Peep Show.

Sorry, missed that bit of the post!
I missed this completely but I got the DVDs of series 3 and 4 for Christmas so plan to start watching it tonight when I get in from work (around 1am).
When you have finished watching all 4 series of The IT Crowd, the best thing to do is .... watch all 4 series of The IT Crowd .... and remember, watch it as a team.
(oh go on then, have a good laugh "with" a cup of tea)
All the best,
Cal
