New British Sitcom

Hi All, just wanted your thoughts on a new British Comedy sitcom I'm involved with. It revolves around a Nigerian family living in London. I want as much feedback as possible as we are aiming to get this on mainstream TV. Check out the introduction to the family below:

What are your thoughts on the clip?

Might it be something you would be interested in watching?

Any other observations/thoughts/opinions please slap em below.

Someone's posted about this before. I doubt that the replies will be any more favourable this time.

I'd watch it but I'd need subtitles as I am crap with accents.

I watched it and for some reason I kept thinking that this was stereotyping by the way they dressed. I suppose this is normal, but I just thought it was a bit over the top. Also, the characters seemed a bit too Eddie Murphy for me (OTT.)

But, I haven't seen an episode so I don't know how it will run.

Good luck.

Hello, I really enjoyed watching this, it felt full of warmth and good humour and I hope it attracts all the interest it deserves. Good luck with it!

RE: What are your thoughts on the clip?

0:04 I would change it slightly i.e freeze Mr Adebanjo differently, so that the narrator doesn't speak over his dialogue?

0:20 to 0:24 To me it felt a little bit out of place looping this part?

0:52 to 0:55 You can't hear the arguement between Sade and the guy next to her because of the narration. I think just having an exasperated reaction shot from the guy to camera would be more than enough to get their characters / relationship firmly established, plus you could freeze it and tell us his name?

Finally I thought that the improvised like dialogue at 01:48 was dificult to follow the first time round so reduced the impact of the rest of the trailer slightly?

Anyway that said I enjoyed it regardless of any of the suggested tweaks above. So what was my point? Hmmmm

I wouldn't watch it based on that clip. It left me bemused rather than amused. Sorry. >_<

I don't think this trailer is anywhere near as good as the original one. The original one was funny and semed to show the white chap and his girlfriend as the main players. This one dosen't tell us what the focus of the show is. What is the synopis?

How can you possibly advertise a sitcom about Nigerians on the internet without asking us if you can leave several episodes on our Sky+ box while you avoid the taxman in return for keeping ten percent of those episodes and by the way can I have your credit card number and security code please?

I suddenly rather want to watch Desmond's.

One thing about the sound quality: I couldn't make out most of what they were saying, but not for the accents; I just couldn't HEAR it. The sound is oddly muffled and unclear. :S

It really does sound like it was recorded with an in-camera microphone in echoey rooms. You might need to get the actors to record their lines again and loop them back in for some of the harder-to-make out lines. It's very difficult to do right, though.

Another thing about this trailer, it didn't really seem to show any jokes from the show; it just sets up the characters. But the characters are (from first impressions) the most basic sitcom archetypes imaginable (the insecure dad, the annoying neighbor etc); everyone's seen these types a million times before but one of the main advantages of that is that they need no introduction: you should maybe just have skipped the formalities and just shown more of the characters interacting. I think the viewers would instantly pick up who was who.
