Newsjack - Series 3 Page 7

Laughing out loud I've planned sketches/ideas for characters to develop for next week, I've got other writing commitments at the moment. I'm working on a radio drama script, bit of a step away from comedy but also writing a sitcom script so that balances things out :D

Oh I sent three sketches yesterday as well.... and disturbingly have a draft sketch for next week already written...

I don't know what I'll do come Thursday now. Being a very lazy writer was my main excuse when I didn't get stuff on.

Coolio. I sent 3 sketches on monday, bit like sacrificing to the sun god.

No sketches.

Real MEN send sketches.

Grrrrr!

I can't write topical sketches. Sobs into granola like a girl.

I sent some news bullets but got an email back saying they didn't want them this series.

You and Chip should team up; just think of it!

Yeah, but just think of the acrimonious break-up. It'd be like Peter and Katie all over again. Tear the board apart.

Three sketches sent on Monday and a load of vox pops emailled in today.

No joy last series so lets if I can break my duck this time around.

J

I fear I may have a concrete duck.

Anyone heard anything yet? I thought last year people were hearing on Tuesday night if their sketches were in the short list for the show?

No it was Wednesday night.

Sometimes Thursday morning!

Dan

right so even if we don't hear back tonight there still could be the possibility of thursday morning?that's good :)

I sent in three sketches and 10 vox pops. Spent quite a while on the sketches but the voxpops were done in a bit of a rush and after reading them again I noticed that there was a grammatical error in my first gag. Cringe.

Well at least I submitted and have got into Newsjack mode. Just need to keep it up for another five weeks and be a bit more thorough with my checking.

Don't fret, team. As I type this Miles Jupp is wiping his arse with our sketches down in the depths of the BBC Radio Theatre.

So when you get up in the morning to find an empty inbox, just take solace that it's only BBC 7 - shh - no-one's listening to it.

There. I've pre-empted it. I feel better now.

BBC 7

Radio 4 Extra soon!

>just take solace that it's only BBC 7 - shh - no-one's listening to it.

I'm sure Newsjack has a very healthy audience. 90% of it potential writers for the show loudly pooh-poohing the current sketch and proclaiming how theirs was much better, and the other 10% unwilling listeners who keep asking 'Is this your bit' and 'When do I hear your name in the credits' to the successful writer who dragged them there to listen to their words of genius.

(Not forgetting the one listener who actually tuned in deliberately, although they were actually looking to hear Hinge and Bracket.)
