Morris: A Life With Bells On

For those interested, this mockumentary film is being given its TV premier on digital channel Blighty on Saturday 29th May at 20.00. A special "making of" documentary called Morris in the Making follows it at 22.00.

We probably will put this on the guide schedule, but we've been having some problems recently due to Mark being a bit under the weather.

In case anybody else is wondering, this is about dancing.

Not Chris Morris, as I had hoped.

Now I've got images of Chris Morris dressed in white and dancing with sticks. Very strange indeed.

I went out of my way to catch one of the few screenings of this film in Edinburgh after my mum - who'd seen it in the local village hall in deepest rural Somerset - started banging on about how hilarious it was.

Well, sorry Mum, it was a big let-down. Admittedly, it's somewhat charming in places and morris dancing is undeniably a rich source for comedy, but this film didn't have enough gumption to carry it through. It felt laboured and the inevitable stateside element was both cringe-worthy and incredibly tiresome.

Shame.
