Red Dwarf did something similar. Pool with planets.
Ah, yeah. Then they ruined it by adding modern CGI effects and it looked just as bad, but not in that good-bad type of way.

This had a kind of surreal edge to it. I really liked it and I wouldnt say that I'm particularly dated.
from a kid though, I always viewed the universe as a big snooker game, nobody else did and I couldn't understand why.
