Walsh is being very vindictive and that is why this affair has got a bit nasty. The only possible reason why he left it so late to challenge this strike was to be vindictive and rile the union leaders as much as possible. He must have known a lot sooner of his intention and he must have been very sure of being successful to have left it the day before the strike. Apparently even pro BA lawyers were shocked by this arrogance. Walsh makes MaGregor the coal boss in the 80s and the owners of British Steel look like softie union lovers. This will be another nasty rancorous fight because the bosses don't like strikes or unions.
