Not really following the India game but I see Broad got a hat trick

Is that one with his left, one with his right and one with his head?

No it was one that was good, one that was very good and one that the umpire got horribly wrong! Score book says it's a hatrick tho.

I've still got no idea what a cricket hat trick is. Or care to be honest....

You should care, Chappers, as it pre-dates the footie hat-trick and can therefore lay claim to being the original.

Also many football hat-tricks aren't really, if you follow the classical idea of three in a row.

On the Guardian OBO they referred to a 'maiden Test Michelle'

Yes, I had to Google it as well !

:)

So in which game do they wear three cornered hats?

Pelota !

I claim Carol Voderman as my prize !

From Wikipedia (=FACT)

Etymologyc.1877, originally from cricket, meaning taking three wickets on three bowls. This extended to other sports. Allegedly because it entitled the bowler to receive a hat from his club, or perhaps it entitled him to pass the hat for a cash collection.

I think they mean "balls" rather than "bowls" but otherwise it makes sense. A true hat trick in football should only refer to three goals by the same player in a row, with no other goals scored in between after his/her first.

Back on topic, have England been as good as this at test cricket ever before? When they beat teams, they are demolishing them.

I went to my first test match 22 years ago at the Oval (Takes a moment to cry, as I don't want to be old)

And I have never seen an England team like this one.
They bully teams into breaking. When someone fails, someone else stands up.They have strength in depth. They have no real stand out star.

Look at the batting line up for that test. It must give the bowlers nightmares just thinking about it.

They are without doubt the best team in the world at present.

But they still have to go to India and win to be truely great.

So when should they declare then?

Don't know why they are pissing about at the moment.

Hit the thing!!!

About an hour before the close I guess.

The England Cricket team are much fitter than the Football team.

Not in my lifetime. Good question, by the way.

They have to be Angie, they play for five days the footie boys only manage 90 minutes.

The bowlers have had their feet up for two days.
