Distracting yourself

Well it's that time of year again for me; exam season. So, instead of revising (as would make sense) I instead have written almost an entire sitcom pilot BECAUSE THIS COMPLETELY UNIQUE IDEA ABOUT A UNIVERSITY FLAT SHARE SIMPLY CANNOT WAIT!!!

So this got me wondering whether other people use writing as a distraction. If so, what activities are so terrible that they make staring at a blank sheet of paper (and the soul-crushing knoweldge that it won't fill itself) the better option?

Or on the other hand do you find you distract youself from writing? Suddenly you decide that the bathroom needs cleaning, or to read internet articles about getting fit. After all, you can always write tomorrow but if you don't get fit right now then you could die an early death, thus making it the much more pressing issue. Of course it's always reading about exercise, as opposed to, you know, just going for a run or something.

So, do you use writing to distract yourself, or do you distract youself from writing?

I've distracted myself from writing a play I had plans to stage in July or August.

Most of my time is wasted playing Scrabble on Facebook or visiting this bloody site.

I do an amazing amount of washing up when there's uni essays to write.

I often wander to these boards or Facebook when I should be writing.

I seem to write a lot more on the computer in the other room which purposely has no internet connection.

Ditto.
I had my office 'puter dissconnected from the internet for this very reason.

I so empathise with this thread. All my early writing (completed & ready to send) 100% attention given stuff is on my original pc - With the chunky, table- filling monitor that has no net access & no computer games available. I must plug it back in & have a proper catch up day with it soon.
