My first successful comedy performance

I successfully mananged to perform comedy for the first time ever last night! I, as well as some other people, performed a tribute to "QI" for our university's variety show, and it went down well. In fact, we over-ran!

In the hall where we performed, there was a computer monitor, which displayed messages from the tech-crew to the performers, and I told the audience that the monitor told us to, "Hurry the hell up," which got an extra laugh. We got another one when the monitor said, "I can hurt you."

Still, it was success at least.

Well done you Ian. Clever thing eh! I keep turning down chances as I am a scaredy cat. I have decided tho that i am going to have 3 small glasses of wine, get driven there & back and just go for it.

I mean if i fall flat on my face, its okay I dont know the bastards, and the drink will cushion the fall.

Well done again & keep up the good work. :D

Well done Ian, its always good to hear when things go well because potenetial performers usually only think about the horror stories of performing. You'l be after Fry's job next.

Charley everyone knows that if you got into stand up you would be great so go for it.

Well, I've tried stand-up twice, but wasn't very good at it.

I do plan to try it again mind. I'm thinking of doing character comedy, like Steve Coogan and Al Murray.

Comedians doing characters can go down well as long as they can relate to the character. I write for one and his gigs seem to go pretty well.

Well done Ian i perform at open mics every two weekends (if i have the time) and find that this is the best way to learn skills and also get used to standing in front of a crowd and being confident, well done and charley go for it girl, you would go down well, because if they don't laugh you could suck em right up there.

Yes - well done. Nothing I've ever had the talent or guts to do.

I understand that Charley has trouble just trying to stand-up.

LOL. Thanks guy's for your encouragement. (Is that spelt right).
I can get up & play my guitar no problem & sing, but oh i spose i will just have to have a wee go. Your right Lewis. I could just suck em right up if they dont laugh.

Yeah congrats Ian, I have a character for stand up but I'm still getting into performing as myself and being "funny".

Keep the stand up going Ian it takes practice...

I'll try.

There's your answer. When you singing along playing your "axe", in between songs throw in a few jokes see how they go down. You can use the guitar as a security blanket, I've seen loads of comics do that, they walk on stand with one, but never play, I'm guessing their hiding behind it.

Charley Carrot.

Hahaha. Charley Carrot eh!
I will give it a go. I have decided. We only live once eh. Who cares if i dont go down well. (Actualy no man has ever complained). Thats good right?

But what will you do with your carrot Charley?

Put it where the sun don't shine. Except, if her banter is anything to go by, it'd drop right out.
