Episodes - Series 1 Page 19
That was a return to the barren, gag-free wasteland of episode 1.
As for tonight's episode, it dragged. I didn't think I'd make it to the end but I hung in there.
They've written Tamsin Greig a very odd character. Are we supposed to like her? Or sympathise with her? Or just grind our teeth and wish she'd lighten up?
Matt LeBlanc being sick on Beverly's shoulder is an early contender for most telegraphed joke of the year.

She is a pain in the arse. So much so I'm starting to think her career consists entirely of playing whiny killjoys.
"Who would have predicted that?"
ME.
It's a better drama than it is a comedy, but I still enjoy it enough to keep watching.
If this gets recommissioned I'm gonna quit showbiz altogether.
Quote: Griff @ January 28 2011, 4:52 PM GMTI liked Dan Tetsell's tweet: "Working on an American remake of Episodes where a US producer comes to the UK and the BBC let him do any old shit."
Excellent! Gag of the week for me.
Marion has risen and walks among us.
Now, I'm confused!
Matt LeBlanc is playing Matt LeBlanc. References have been made to Friends and Joey to confirm this.
I know he's playing an exaggerated version, but has Matt LeBlanc ever been married, had kids, and then had a messy divorce? Even if he has had a bad relationship, I wouldn't think he would want to be portrayed like this.
It appears that the writers want to have it both ways - a factual character background and a fictional one as well.
It stretches all credibility.
And it's still not funny.

Have they started filming Pucks yet, or are they still in rehearsals? Because I would have thought it's definitely a studio audience type of sitcom yet this doesn't look the case so far.
They were filming the pilot in the last ep. No audience though.

This happens all the time in comedy.
See Curb Your Enthusiasm and Larry Sanders for dozens of examples.
Quote: Griff @ February 3 2011, 9:44 PM GMTJust caught up with eps 3 and 4. I don't understand all the hate for this. It's a pleasant enough character piece with some good performances. Mind you any show that starts with a "Previously..." recap is clearly a comedy drama and not a sitcom.
Is it getting hate? The consensus seems to be it's very watchable but ultimately disappointing considering the names involved.
Have to agree with Griff. I'm really enjoying this and I too don't get all the negativity.
For me this is one of the more enjoyable current shows but maybe it's suffering from what is essentially a comedy drama being shown in sitcom length segments.
As I said somewhere earlier in this thread, I would have divided the seven half hour episodes up as one 90 and two 60mins. That way each would have time to breathe and wouldn't have all the pressure of having to have loads of funnies in a 27 minute slot.
If it has a fault, then it's that it's perhaps being marketed in the wrong genre.
Any road up though, I like it.
