My Family - Series 10 Page 15

Is there an episode next week or not?

Quite liked the episode from last night. It seems to revolve quite a lot on Ben going off on his own, Susan has been missing from two episodes, Janey was in two small scenes and Michael was in the bit with Roger. Actually Roger's part was one of the funniest and he didn't seem too "slotted in for the sake of it." But yeah I actually kinda like when Ben goes off and meets other people and gets involved in situations, apart from Nick he was always the highlight of the show for me. Good episode.

There is no episode next week.

No idea what's going on with the episode scheduling - there's definitely not one next week (Friday 3rd September), but last night's episode was still listed as 7 of 9 in numerous places. Sadly the show hasn't been listed by the BBC Press Office at all this series.

As for the DVD, I'm not 100% certain of how the classification process works, but it's entirely possible that they can hold episodes over, despite having had them cleared as part of an earlier set.

It looks like we are getting the originally proposed 9-part eleventh series then.

Yeah think that is the case as it happened with Classic Doctor Who but tbh this whole series seems a mess to me with episode ordering etc...

Ok, it seems that the series has indeed been cut shorter than planned in order to fit around other scheduling commitments (namely football and Masterchef). There may have been up to 22 episodes recorded for the two series - including Christmas specials - though, which would suggest Series 11 may be up to 13 weeks long...

Going to be a very weird DVD now I think, 2 episodes in a row missing a central character. They need to stop with missing people out.

I do like it when they both go out and do different things but it wouldn't hurt to feature both actors in the same episode while they do this.

Is it something to do with contracts/ availability/ dodgy scripts (like when they refused to film one once)?

Did Zoe Wannamaker flip out and shout at the producers "This is SHIT! I'm not filming this bollocks?"

Or did they just think it works? It doesn't. It makes it feel empty, like I'm watching something slowly die, or be killed off.

As for the last episode, it was ok, for once (for me) Roger added more of the old 'My Family' type comedy into it than there has been all series. It needed it like Jordan needs publicity, AKA desperately.

There were 18 recordings including the 2 Christmas specials. 7 have been broadcast, 2 are specials meaning that Series 11 should be 9 episodes in length. Unless of course, some episodes were filmed on the quiet :)

Well, possibly some more recordings coming up in that case, as I'm told that there were 22 scripts completed.

I think they are trying to slowly kill it off by messing it around, it is probably for the best that it ends soon though. If not after a 2011 Christmas special then a Series 12 with an hour long final episode.

Enough is enough now. 108 episodes broadcast so far, only another 187 until they hit Summer Wine land.

I did enjoy this series more than the last couple but I do feel it's definitely the right time to finish it. It just seems everyone was going through the motions and there is no spark in the scripts or acting and the plots seem to be copies of earlier episodes.

I hope the BBC give it enough respect next year and schedule it well so it can have a decent last stand.

I'm sure some will moan AGAIN but here's a slightly worrying update for My Family ratings freaks. Official figures for episodes 1-6 from BARB but the overnight figure for episode 7 is absolutely awful.

Episode:

1. 4.33 million
2. 4.78 million
3. 4.42 million
4. 4.66 million
5. 4.89 million
6. 4.70 million
7. 3.81 million (overnight figure)

Obviously the week break won't have done it any favours, but unless it timeshifts a hell of a lot it will be the lowest rating episode ever, along with episode 1 from this series.

I have little doubt it will under 4.33m.

It was only just ahead of the Outnumbered repeat after too.

I'd love to see an average % breakdown of how the BARB figures compare to the BBC's own figures, which of course take iPlayer etc into account.

(David, can you dig out the audience share % for those 6 weeks?)
