I remember so many kids being killed on bikes when I was young - seems less now, although there's more cars on the roads. I imagine cycling helmets have a big part to play in it.

People seem to be more aware of the dangers now than say a decade ago. Even if it means I look working class in a florescent jacket.

I'm such a hypocrite though because I wouldn't wear one. But I mainly cycle during the day.

During the day you're ok as long as you don't dress like a ninja or a muslim.
I most definitely wear a helmet and flourescent jacket. I am going to do all I can to not be knocked down and killed.
I nearly get hit every single journey I do which is worrying as I am not a) a fast cyclist or b) stupid.
I need new tyres and inner tubes for my bike.
That is all.
I've got a Subway Carrera, Paul. They're pretty light and fast. The paint does seem to chip quite easily, but I'm not sure if that's because I bike at such high speed.

Subway 1? Or 2?

I just had a look and it doesn't say 2 on there anywhere, so I assume it's a 1. Also, I think you'll want a bigger frame than 18". If you're 6 foot (or something) you'll want 20 or 22". I'm about 5 ft 10 and the 18" was far too small.

the 1 and 2 are the same pretty much, I think the 2 has disc brakes and the 1 has V brakes.
Tried the 18" in store fitted me ok, I'm only about 5, 10 / 11 so that was ok for me.
That's a nice bike, especially for the price. If I could justify it in anyway I would spend a shed load of money on a bike, I just love them. I have started wearing a helmet as I came off last year and just about got away with it, so promised my daughter I would be safer in future. Feel like a bit of a winkle a lot of the time but heyho. Happy cycling Paul

Maybe I'm all leg? Certainly not all cock.
When you get your bike, Paul, perhaps we could go for a nice bike ride together.

Me too. My dad used to be an amateur racer and he had some nice £700+ bikes which were vey quick. They were racing bikes mind and they always look too spindly for my liking.

racing bikes are insanely thin and waif like. I love the chunky dirt of a mountain bike. A filthy bike is a happy bike.

Well I measure it on when I'm standing up on the bike, my balls just clip the frame.
And sure why the hell not, I'll bring the picnic.
