Quote: Billy Bunter @ April 2 2013, 8:25 PM BSTHe fell at the 17th last year while well behind. He's trained in Ireland by Willie Mullins, who's always to be reckoned with (he had 5 winners & 6 placed at Cheltenham this year). However, he does also train the favourite, On His Own, and Quel Esprit.
Quiscover Fontaine has never won beyond 2 1/2 miles (the Grand National is 4 1/2 miles). But, then again, nor had Gay Trip, who won in 1971. Some do say that a 2 1/2 miler can win the Grand National because they're only hunting round over the first circuit and not racing in earnest until the second circuit.
