Spin-offs featuring fairly minor characters.

When Frasier started, a lot of people were surprised, since he was not a major character in Cheers, unlike say 'Joey' from Friends. More recently, we've had the Cleveland Show. What other examples are there?

Hi Nogget,

Already had a thread about this.

If you look down, you'll see I've just re-animated that thread.

OK, but I'm specifically interested in only those shows featuring relatively minor characters.

Was Frasier a minor character in Cheers?

Was Frasier a minor character in Cheers?

He ended up as a fairly equal part of that whole 'regulars' team, to my recollection.

I don't think he and Lilith were in every episode, unlike the bar staff and Norm & Cliff.

We shouldn't be discussing this here. But since we are, I think Frasier started as a just a recurring guest character, as Diane's boyfriend, then rapidly graduated to be full time character in virtually every episode.

I vaguely remember Maurice Major and the Minors.

Tony Hawks wasn't it. whatever hasppened to him after that skateboarding incident?

Um. Struggling to think of anything British. Everything coming to mind has been a major or secondary character, not a minor one. *scratches head*

I see there was a Cheers spin-off with Nick Tortelli, Carla's husband.

He went round Ireland with a fridge.

You don't think of Boycie and Marlene as minor characters? What's the difference between a secondary and a minor character?

They played fairly big roles in some episodes. I'd class them as secondary characters. A minor character would be Mickey Pearce, Mike (the landlord), maybe even Denzil.

If you do want to consider Boycie and Marlene as minors, then I submit Porkpie, the Desmond's spin-off.
