And if BBC WR promote it and other comps on their site it can't be a complete scam, or can it???

Not a scam.
Just possibly not the best use of your time.

Probably true. But still, not a bad thing to have on the CV, a bit like a short film award.

I didn't expect anything from WritersRoom anyway and by sending my script to them I was kind of trying to make a point that they're also not the best use of my time.

That's a weird way to make a point - "I'll show them this is a waste of time by wasting my time on it!" Kind of like a Moebius strip of logic.

I didn't blow myslef up on public transport to prove I wasn't a fanatic.

Some writers end up working on TV series and they try to promote the top 20 odd writers for a year.

Given you finished eighth in their comp, I take it they'll be promoting your work?

Apparently. But who knows?

Cool. Or merely pointing out how fickle these things are.

:) Welcome back Frankie! Wave

Thanks mate, it's not 4laughs but it's better than being on the streets! :)

And thank God because if it was the boards would be closed at this time of night and I'd have nothing to refresh constantly in the hope of some new postings.

I've always avoided Scriptapalooza.
Mainly because of the looza part of the name.

Regarding WR, it doesn't hurt as one avenue to send a script, but don't make it your sole concern.
Oh, and they're looking or writers, not scripts.
You might have written the "world's greatest story" but if they can't spot a unique voice in your script, then it's send-back time.

Got my script back from Writersroom the other day.
Seems to be approx 3 - 4 month turnaround at the moment.

It's the second script of mine in a row that has come back with good feedback.

This one had feedback snippets including:

"An interesting concept."
"Beautifully orchestrated."
"I can see this being very sellable."

and then closing with...

"We will not be taking this any further."

Gahhhhh.

Still, with two "feedbacked" scripts under my belt, I'm sure I'm being "watched" now. :)

:D

Is there a man opposite you, looking through the holes he's cut out of a newspaper?

Cracking work as ever, Griff.

Did it say

"Dear Mr. Jackson
What we are looking for is an interesting concept, beautifully orchestrated.
Unfortunately your script is nothing like that and I don't think I can see this being very sellable.
We will not be taking this any further"

If so, so did mine.

:D
