But my vote goes to Nigel Kelly.

A sketch is more than just a punch line
Don't beat around the bush, baby!
Angiebaby no.1.
Cool Mikado should also get a titter mention.
Another good crop, but I'm going for the Giggle-O's 'ear inflection'.
Lots of good but The Giggle-o for me too!
Props go out to Timbo though as his last line made me laugh every time I read it! Oh and to bushbaby for being so right and intelligent and beautiful!
Kasm this week for me.
May I ask; do you all start from scratch each week or is it allowed to maybe rejig or submit stuff that you have written prior to the topic for the week being announced?

A bit of both for me, depends on the subject.
If I happen to have a half finished sketch that fits I may stick that in, otherwise just make one up once I see the prompt.
In fact there's nothing stopping you entering something that's been in a previous comp.
About 3/4 of the time I will write a brand new sketch but sometimes I may have something already written that suits the topic so I will just submit that instead.
Usually there is enough of a window to think about the topic and come up with something new.
I always start from scratch(yr) Boom Boom!
Thank you, I'm here all week.
I usually start by reading a couple of entries and think 'Jesus, there are a lot of words to read, if I enter I will have to read all of the them...maybe next time'
A belated mention for KASM, too. I really like the non-hibernating bear idea, just thought it could have got to the crunch a bit quicker and be tied up a bit quicker.
I don't really have many sketches so I've got to write new ones.
The competiton has been a good motivator for me to do some writing.
I had two sketches that I shoe-horned in to two different weeks, but it's easier to just make them up.
I find the comp a good motivator - although I take onboard the Giggs and Bushbaby's comments - it's so easy to write too much because you keep thinking... it isn't quite funny enough - I must just try to add another funny line. But shorter is better.

That's interesting, because I've been trying to pad out my 'jokes' into 'sketches', mostly to see if I can write convincing dialogue.
What I like about the comp is it doesn't have to be a sketch, it could be a poem, song lyrics, one-liner, and that's what makes it interesting and fun.
Fanx for your entries and comments. Anything's fair game as long as it's funny and (vaguely) relevant to the topic!
