White wine is trickier for flavour for a non drinker, sharp and sour, dry and gooseberry... maybe a really good, not per se expensive, full strawberry flavoured fizz with a strawberry in it, chilled on a hot summers day?

I'm there... *glazed over*

That does sound rather enticing.

But I suppose if you're drinking to get drunk, it's the other way around (zooo).

You cheeky mare.

Or........................ PIMMS!!!! Properly made with all the stuff! :$

My missus drinks Pimms. I gotta say, it's pretty nice. Even zooo would like that I bet.

I do like a nice middle class drink.
Maybe I'll give it a whirl.

Cucumber mint strawberry.. make it with good ginger ale. Mm mmm mmm. As Ollie Hardy would say.

;) Somehow don't think me 'Scrumpy Jack' quite fits the bill!

Just like every other alcoholic drink. You keep trying them, thinking surely one in this world HAS to taste good.

But no.

You sound like you *want* to like them. If so, why?

Anyway to bring this topic back on topic, here's a photo of a painting, of Crickhowell Bridge, done by my father (in the 1960's I think)

And a photo I took myself from the same location in about 1998.

Enjoy

Not particularly. I don't think I've had any alcohol since last Christmas. And that was one Snowball. :) (Cos they are yellow and pretty.)

I am just perplexed by the wide popularity of alcohol with most people (normal ones as well as drunkards) and so I often wonder what it is that I'm missing about the stuff.

I think basically people like the effects of alcohol. I know many connoisseurs say they really don't want to get drunk, and that it's all about the flavour, but this is IMO a form of enjoyment by association; we enjoy the taste because we associate it with being intoxicated. I can't prove this, but here's some circumstantial evidence: a lot of us hate the taste when we first try it, and only later get into it, and: alcohol-free wine and beer is nasty.

I'm getting strawberries, hints of peach, and a gorgeous effervescence of lost memories upon the summer breeze

:D Love that cartoon! I find people who don't like alcohol like 'Lambrinni' and the fizzy pommagne type of drinks, also rose wine is nice.

LibDem wine.

I love all of that crap. Sparkling perry has a bad rep but it tastes like angels!

Katy cider tonight... it is the way forward!
