Happy St. George's Day again, my friends.
Now let's go slay us some dragons, and retreat to my castle high upon the hills of Jerusalem.

Hahahaha!!!! St George was Turkish and he's also the patron saint of Germany! He's also supposed to help those suffering from syphilis. Priceless!!!!
St David is the patron of poets and vegetarians. What's your point?
My point is he's a crap saint. He's not English, there are no such things as dragons by the way (except on certain flags - ahem) and there is a better alternative. St Alban. At least he actually lived in England
As far as I'm aware, there's no law which states that a country's patron saint has to be from that country. In fact, having a foreign saint shows how open we English are. You big fat xenophobic racist.
I thought I was ina time warp for a minute - then saw the thread started last year.
So where's our public holiday and the big parade?

Still going apparently.
Always remember this one cos I was a dog lover ->
''I saw you in the park
and wanted to be your friend,
so I tunneled my snout,
up your 'non-barking' end.
Gem.
That's priceless also. Anyway, happy St George/St Alban's day to all you folks on the wrong side of the Severn Bridge(s).

OIh no. That'll wake Charley up.

I think Aaron could be a shoe-in for insult of the year already. I'll vote for it.

From the Beeb (with slight embellishments):
"Everything about Saint George is dubious, so the information below should be taken as mythical rather than real."
"Born in Turkey (in Cappadocia)" (England hadn't let Turkey become independent at that time!)
"Lived in 3rd century AD" (AD being just north of London)
"His parents were Christian" (and Lucinda)
"Later lived in Palestine" (Well, who else should live there?! Certainly not Palestinians, ask the Israelies.)
"Became a Roman soldier" (best way to get to fight them nasty dragons!)
"Protested against Rome's persecution of Christians" (and Lucindas)
"Imprisoned and tortured, but stayed true to his faith" (in honour of which George Michael wrote a song)
"Beheaded at Lydda in Palestine " (In those days snitches and grasses were very common hence the original term "Keep a Lydda on it")
"23rd April was named as Saint George's day in 1222" (until Sir Kenneth of the Living Stone seized power and renamed it Saint Lee of Jasper day)
