Don't for a second think there's anyone here who likes formula one
(apart from me). But as there's a football thread I thought It would be fun for me to watch this thread sink like a heavy thing in water. So, New season and all that. Anyone keen?
Cars going round in circles
Not a sport is it. It's an engineering compeition.
And it's so badly paid.

Well yes to a point and that's part of it and should be that's why it's called Motorsport. But the drivers have to be in top physical shape. Just look at Piquet Jnr, he couldn't handle it and was always crashing and coming home in some lowly position and he's not exactly unfit, just wasn't fit enough. Same as Montoya.

Formula Pun
Come on man, how fit do you have to be to turn a wheel? They don't even have the effort of changing gear, it's all on a little button.
Dude. Are you just trying to wind me up? They have to train all year round to able to drive those crazy machines. By your reasoning Jet fighter pilots only have to turn a little joystick. I suppose that's why it's so easy to get job doing either.

You forgot that you have to be a midget as well!

Plus whilst driving at 150mph plus for two hours they also have to listen to instructions on the radio, adjust the brake balance, fuel mix, front wing angle, and many other settings and race all the other guys and not crash. It's like trying to multi-task on a roller coaster for two hours but drive it too without it being stuck on the rails.
Listen! When I drive for two hours, I have to sit on the M25 and listen to Chris Moyles. You can't get any harder than that!
Quote: Griff @ January 28 2010, 8:07 PM GMTScratchyr's right, you do have to be an athlete to drive fast cars.
He only has to deal with an empty airstrip and wussy sports cars that can't take a hairpin at 60mph. And he's a bellend
I like to watch the first lap. I lose interest if there isn't a crash though.

Chris Moyles for 2 seconds on a paradise island wouldn't be much better.

Gerry, this I can understand. Not every lap is a spellbinder. By a long shot.
The other thing I find funny, is how can one man own a sport?
? you mean eccelston?
