Comedians people on the BCG hate Page 14

I couldn't agree more. I'd rather watch Stephen Hawking doing stand up.

I'd like to see that. I thought he was excellent in Superhero Movie.

Russell Brand is annoying but nowhere near as annoying as Justin Lee Collins.

True. Very true.

I'm proud to say I have never seen Justin Lee Collins on the telly apart from the split second it takes to find the remote and turn over.

Lenny Henry.
I can't think of a single time when he's done anything funny.
Except perhaps when he was the guest comic on the 'Black & White Minstrel Show'.
And that was more ironic, really.

Can I nominate James Corden - or would that be a category mistake?

See I wouldn't call James Corden a comedian. I would refer to him as television funnyman James Corden.

Quite. Unfortunately, I think he probably thinks he is.

Hate is certainly too strong a word, but I find these comedians dreadfully overrated:

Jack Whitehall - he's just a weasel faced twat. After chatting to him once in a bar, I suspect he may also be a Tory voter.

On the Rob Deering front, I find him quite likeable. Yeah, he's one of those faces and isn't the funniest guy on earth, but deep down he seems like a decent sort.

I came to this thread to nominate some smug posh dick who keeps cropping up everywhere despite not being in the least bit funny but didn't know his name. Your short description as a weasily faced Tory twat was enough to identify this man to me as being Jake Whitehead.

Joan Rivers
Lenny Henry
Big yin (i can't spell Billy Connolly)
I'm sure there's many more, I used to love Eddie Izard but now he really drags(!) on me and so do many of those flights of fancy comedians. I watched Bill Bailys Tinsel worm the other night and it left me and the wife totally cold, which is odd as we both like him on panel shows. Maybe with age I'm leaning towards the more domestic over heroic comedy.

Tinselworm was rubbish. Part Troll was fab.

As for comedians we hate I'm finding Ross Noble harder and harder to watch these days. Dunno why, I used to really like him. Now he gets on my tits a bit. Could be just a phase.

Here are the comedians I dislike, again hate is a strong word and brings a lot of emotional baggage and effort. Soooo...

I dislike the following -

Michael McIntyre - bland, weak and safe material delivered by a man who laughs at his own jokes. His act mainly appeals to lower middle class simpletons who find high voices and floppy hair to be the highest forms of comedy.

Victoria Wood - still thinks we live in 1979, still thinks musical numbers are cool, still thinks her sub-par Alan Bennett-esque observations about Northern working class people are funny. Old fashioned, irrelevent and tedious.

Russell Howard (aka Blinky McMupptface) - piss poor material involving made up stories about his family life and growing up in Bristol. Talks on a level a 13 year old can understand, mainly because his comedy intellect and sophistication are stuck at that age. Yells stuff out at Mock The Week like some ADD child with Tourettes, that the other comics ignore and the audience sympathy laughs at.

Jack Whitehall - someone who always talks as if he's going to say something funny, but never does. A perrenial third wheel on every panel show he appears on. Just a waste of space generally.

Shappi Iranian Woman - sub-par Omid Dijali who makes constant jokes about her racist Mother-in-Law. Bores me to tears but apparently gets to be on Question Time 'cuz she iz a bit foreigns ya know'. So dull, uninspiring and unfunny, that even thinking about her makes me sleepy.

Jason Manford - there are many comics who trade on their Northern working class roots but only a few (like Lee Mack) can do it justice. Very predictable and obvious jokes that are instantly forgettable. Delivery is somewhat annoying, just can't do outraged properly which also weakens his material.

Patrick Kielty - unlike the other comics listed above, actually has good material but his delivery style leaves me cold. Can only listen to him for a couple of minutes before my ears start bleeding.

Catherine Tate - I've never seen someone so proudly ignorant after everyone and everything. Her catchphrase based material with funny wigs and swearing just isn't funny in my eyes. Poor.

Blimey, we could be twins, Mr Carpark! Wave

The day Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins split was a bad day for British Comedy. It meant they effectively increased their joint production by 100 per cent. The lightweight, TV presenter half wits.

Oh and Jimmy Carr, a sort of modern day Bob Monkhouse. Does some good stuff, but does it too much, can be quick witted with some good repostes, but he sees himself as some sort of Peter Cook, which he definitely isn't! Also like Monkhouse, makes comedy look like some gruelling intellectual marathon, not the sexy thing that someone like Eddie Izzard makes it look.

Ah yes Ross Noble is another overpowered by whimsy and crap..

He might not be as bad as some of the folks mentioned here, but I find Chris Addison very disappointing. His material is weak, and he puts on a kind of semi-arrogant blokey swagger that sits uncomfortably with his weedy, nerdy appearance.

And that radio show he does on 5 Live is desperately poor, no matter who is guesting.
