Well with the risk of sparking up a much older tussle on BCG.

The spike in sexualised violence amongst teens and preadults. Is being strongly linked to the increase in; hard core pornography, violent games, films and music.

A classic example of technology outstripping technologies ability to manage it.

I mean look I'm the worlds crappiest gamer ever. But I remember playing Halo for hours and what an adrenaline rush that was. It certainly wasn't game over back on with every day life.

I said that people have attitudes set, largely, early on.

Surely, to 'perpetuate' something it needs to exist already?

Perpetuation accross generations is easiest to explain. It's very difficult to grow up in such a media-driven world and not have it have a MASSIVE impact on how you feel about the world. If a child grows up reading the Daily Mail every day, they will more than likely end up being a great big racist. If a young girl's only famous female role models are famous purely for being sexual products, then how are they to grow up identifying as anything else?

Spike? What spike? Where doth this spike you spake of be? Or is this just generalised Daily Mail, the sky is falling, luddite rhetoric designed to instill fear in order to push a socio-political agenda?

Because according to all the crime figures, the UK is the safest it's been for several centuries.

I could not agree more. Good point, very well made. You may put your feet up for a few minutes and can finish the hoovering later.

;)

You see, you're joking but the tragic part is I actually DO have to hoover today. I've been putting it off but it's getting bad now.

The only ones that ever kept my attention more than 5 minutes were Mario and Sonic.

I have designated tomorrow as my 'domestic day'. Going to do the entire flat in one go. Back when I used to share a flat, my mate would always have a couple of tins of lager before doing any cleaning up, he said it made it more 'fun'.

A lot of crime spikes are entirely mythical and can be put down to an increase on reporting of incidents (good thing), or simply an increase of communication of events. This is the sort of headline crap tabloids love to quote, but don't actually have any stats to back them up.

There has been a super dramatic increase of civil cases for car collisions in the last 10 years, but the number of collisions aren't rising.

I'd agree it has an effect I'm not sure I'd agree with 'massive' though.

A larger problem is a young boy's female role models... if the only positive female influence, pre puberty, is their mother is there any wonder they end up a bit f**ked up?

One of the arguments I've heard put forward is: 'Why does Mario have to rescue the Princess, why can't the Princess rescue Mario?'

Now in a real life dragon based kidnapping scenario, I would put more trust in a qualified plumber with Mafia connections then a spoiled monarch with little to no combat training.

Is that sexist? I think not!

Drunk cleaning is dangerous work. Delightfully dangerous.

Fella's on later shifts this week and I'm alone until 8pm, so I really have no excuse not to clean the bloody house.

Somebody has issues. My Mum is fantastic and a very good role model. Plus, she gave birth to me and I am great.

What a bizarre thing to say. A mother is the PERFECT role model, providing she does it right, as she's the epitome of a non-sexualised female influence.
