It's funny veggies and vegans have cravings for processed meat products. I wonder if it's because it's not like meat (as say a bloody steak) or because of the other ingrediants, like salt, etc.
It was a roast chicken that broke me when I was a veggie.
Well I suppose when you grow up with burgers (n that) being a treat, well it was in my day, that you still crave that "special food". We eat a lot of nice healthy food, but we also like to experiment and see what else we can make.
If we can simulate an old favourite, say a Bacon Sandwich, then what's wrong with that? Yes we're veggies, but we still admit to enjoying the taste of meat. Unfortunately we don't agree to the by-product of that (which is the animals death).
It's quite easy to replicate the taste, I'm still learning, but can be surprised with the results. When you be tofu, for example. Normally it doesn't come flavoured. It is just like a lump of generic "meat" or stem cells . You add herbs and spices to recreate that meat taste. If a meat eater tells me, they never add anything to their meat products (no stock, stuffing, gravy, herbs, spices, ketchup) then there obviously not using meat to it's full advantage. How many people here just eat pure plain chicken? A mouth full is nice, but you need those breadcrumbs or gravy or spices to bring out the flavours. That's how "V" cooking works.
