One year I was a travelling minstrel/narrator because it was the main part and Mary didn't have any lines. The other parents would be so f**ked off because I never even allowed mine to come and see me in the play.
Things that piss you off Page 554
I played Jonah in our school rendition and basically was the only person who sang the whole way through alone. But I'm a giiiiirl!!!

Yes, we know you're a girl, Ellie.
My boyfriend doesn't think I'm a real girl because I play rugby, I go out without make up, I don't like boy bands, I hang out with lads really well and basically don't really dress girly.

Sounds like you had a whale of a time. Hey? Hey? What do you say to.... Oh, f**k off!
So what is she Dolly, a donkey or an angel or something?
I always went for angel, I wanted to be on stage but didn't want to speak.

I think she was just singing in the chorus, but suggested herself to the teacher to be an angel at least. As the head teacher said of her in her first school report (she was aged four) "she knows her own mind and is willing to express it." Don't know who she takes after...
Aw!
Is she a blonde? They always made the blonde girls angels at my school. Discrimination, but good for me.

What, sort-of like Bez?

No offence, but she sounds a nightmare. Children should be seen and not heard. Ideally, they wouldn't be seen either.

She's dark blonde and has olive skin like her dad. She's not a borderline albino like I was.
Ha, sounds like an angel Gabriel to me. It's a travesty!

Ooh no, no dancing!
Well, 'dancing'.

She can be a handful - but I hope she'll be able to stick up for herself in life and she did win the best friend award last year. She's also a lot more polite than a lot of children.

If only Frank Skinner would adopt the same philosophy !
