Wetherspoons are boring as hell, not even a bit of music to break the monotony and a TV in every corner, urgh.
I went into what I thought was a lovely country pub the other week but inside it resembled some sort of beauty salon with all modern shitty decor...what's wrong with a bit of spit and sawdust??
The lack of music is one of the main attractions, it actually enables you to talk to your friends instead of SHOUTING. When music is present, people talk louder then the staff turn the music up so people talk louder still and it escalates until it's impossible to communicate and your brain is being scrambled by the loud din so you can't think either.
I'm afraid my attitude is: if you need muzak in pubs wear your MP3 players.

The real beer aspect is good, the low prices are good, but there are indeed some aspects of Wetherspoonses which are not quite so good.
