That's a better place.
Still Darby I think.
Don't feel sorry for Derby. That will only encourage it.
Quote: Ben @ August 18 2013, 11:09 AM BSTPeople who pronounce Berkshire as Berk-shire and not Bark-shire.
I have heard both pronouced and thought they were two different places.

What is the correct pronunciation? Melbun?
Quote: zooo @ August 18 2013, 12:18 PM BSTI do always get the word/place Derby wrong. Is it pronounced darby or derby?
I'm sorry, zooo, but did you just ask if it's pronounced darby or derby?!

Kinda but without the really pronouncing the U. So a bit more like Melbnn or ben with really pronouncing the e.
I just Googled and something that came was that some Victorians say MAL instead of MEL.
Some people also say Brisbane as BAIN, when it's more like BEN.
We seem to have habit in Aus of dropping letters that are really in a word and adding some that aren't.

Eddalide is right though, yes? It's worked well for me in the past.
Can't stand Barclaze when it should be Barclies. That's you Nick Ferrari.
And the High Tory jography. Dreadful.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone here say Eddalide. That sounds like someone from a 70's TV show doing a bad impression of an Australian accent. AD (as in add) ah layed (as in layed down). It is often said that people from South Australia (where Adelaide is the capital) have slightly more English sounded accents than the rest of the country.
As said before the dissapearance of the verb "To Have".
Have you got the book?
Yes I do!
No, no, no!!! The answer should be "Yes I have".
And aternatively "I could of done that!"
Ggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
I hate it when cars don't stop at crossings. I think if you do that you get a 60 pound fine.

I whispered I was from Eddalide and fortunately it was noisy. That proved to be enough to get me a membership card at the time. The only other options were a South African accent and a Canadian one. Australia came to mind first. It was in London which helped and in the days of more relaxed attitudes.
Spoilers on the internet, but more specifically my total lack of willpower at not being able to stop myself reading them. I am rubbish.
No doubt I'll know exactly how break bad ends before I even watch the first batch of these new episodes because I can't not read them.
Never getting to finish a cup of tea due to constant interruptions, lukewarm doesn't do it for me teawise.
Horlicks.
