General TV Discussion: TV and supposedly beautiful

Hello all,

I will start by saying this post is not intended to offend anyone. It is simply my opinion on the fiction on TV.

I have noticed lately that a lot of TV shows have supposedly boxset hot" women that are far from being hot!I am talking here about physical beauty only, not about personality.

Some examples I have right now are Chelsea in Two and a Half men who looks like a man, Laurie in Cougar Town who is supposed to be the hot young thing, well to me she's just a "thing", Rachel in Glee, who is a geek, but she was referred to as being hot in the last 2 episodes, well she's just plain ugly, Kate on Castle, she's ok, but she's not this bomb shell they make her out to be.

I am sure there are many other shows out there like this, but these are the ones I could think of.

I am not saying all women should be the typically beautiful women from playboy or anything like that, but if in a show they want to depict these women as "hot" women, then they should take "hot" actresses. Yes a woman can be attractive and beautiful while being different, but in these situations they should pick the kind of actres that everyone will find attractive.

To me, it's like if they took a chair and said this is a house. It would make no sense.

What does boxset hot mean?

What an odd subject for a thread.

They're all perfectly attractive. And this must be one of the most bizarrely chauvinist threads ever. Bloke actors who are supposedly sexy; the cast of On The Buses, Roger Moore (later Bond films), Seth Rogen, John Candy etc etc.

It may be that acting, comedy skills beat masturbation potential.

Why do I have a sneaking suspicion that this a windup thread?

She looks alright to me! This is a weird thread.

Very weird thread with a very poor explanation about what on Earth this is about.

All the women she's mentioned are perfectly attractive (thanks to the Amercian TV make up/grooming etc).

Also Susan, why does this offend you so?

I'd 'do' all the women mentioned. Hope that helps.

Busy Phillips plays Laurie in Cougar Town. The picture I just saw she looked okay.

She used to be on ER and Dawson's Creek. She's the only one I know of the women mentioned.

Just looked up Chelsea from Two and a Half Men, a.k.a. Jennifer Bini Taylor. She looks okay too. Nice face, nice rack.
