British Comedy Guide

Recommend a stand-up...

Stand-up comedy is by far my favourite live experience and am always keen on discovering new acts.

Not seen many new comedians for a while that have had an impact, so was wondering who I'm missing. Whether they're new to the circuit or have been around a while, but haven't had the exposure they deserve, let me know who's good.

Thanks in advance.

Depends what you like...

Surreal, silly, observational, storytellers, one-liner-merchants, energetic, deadpan, characters, musical acts, sketch-troups, double acts, low-brow, political... and how new to the circuit?

Try these for size: Josie Long, Dave Thompson, Andrew O'Neil, Kevin Dewsbury, Marcel Lucont, Kevin Bridges, Zoe Lyons, Boothby Graffoe, Jim Smallman, Gary Delaney.

I like lists, me.

Trevor Lock.

Funniest I've ever seen live.

Me.

I like one-liner gag merchants so Tim Vine, Milton Jones, Gary Delaney, Ben Davids, Paul Kerensa and Stu Francis would be my immediate suggestions.

Does anyone know why that's in 'General Discussion' and not 'Other British Comedy'?

Dan

Thanks for the replies.

Already a big fan of Josie Long Lovey and Trevor Lock - His offbeat Alan Bennett like flights of fancy are terrific. Although I've heard him interviewed and (I'm pretty sure) read some pieces by Boothby Grafoe, I was not aware he also did stand-up.

I'll have a scan through that link to the other thread too.

Saw a guy called Jason Patterson from the the Clapham area last week. He was very good for someone who seems pretty new to it. Not so good if he's been doing it for years though!

Adam Riches.
