Fasteners/brads

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum so please allow me to take this opportunity to say hello to everyone.

Apologies for such a boring opening post but does anyone know a good place in the UK to get proper script fasteners and washers?
I've bought some fasteners from Staples before but they're not specifically for scripts and so don't look particularly good.
I've found a couple of sites in the States but their postage costs are ridiculous.

Double apologies if I'm posting in the wrong place or if this has been covered elsewhere. I did have a look around but couldn't see that it had.

thanks for your help,

Dan

Have you tried http://www.thescreenwritersstore.net/index.php

thanks for the reply.

I did have a nosey around that site but couldn't find any. Seems to be mostly software and DVDs, unless I'm being dumb which is highly possible.

I'm surprised they seem to be so difficult to get hold of over here.

yeah, you're right of course, I just can't help myself sometimes.

I think my problem is that a friend of mine swiped me some from a TV company she was working at a while ago. Absolutely beautiful they are. Knowing that they're going to run-out soon has caused me many sleepless nights. It's become something of an obsession.

Still at least if I stick with Staples I know I'm contributing to Theo Paphitas' kids' inheritance. So it's not all bad I guess.

Sorry you're right, can't see them there either. I was told to get them from there but haven't needed to yet. :)

The only place I've managed to find them is in a specialist art supplies store here in Cardiff (they're called brass 'split pin fasteners' in the UK). Craft stores and stationary stores don't seem to do them.

If you have a university with a big art department or a college that specialises in art then an arts supplies store is not usually too far away.

that's a good shout, thanks very much.

Maybe I'll brave it in to Leeds tomorrow.

ha, thanks.

Would it be weird to tell you I've been an admirer of your avatar for some time? Yes, it probably would. Ah well, I've said it now.

They are a bugger to source, I got some on eBay a couple of years ago. The BBC use them all the time, wonder where they get theirs from? The type that come in two separate pieces , the split pin and the big flat head, about an inch across that the split pin goes through.

Maybe they're scarce because everyone emails nowadays?
