Coen Brothers

The Coen Brothers films make me laugh plentifully, and they're not even really comedies.
Here be thread.

Fargo is a black comedy, is it not?

The Big Lebowski has some of my favourite lines in. Miller's Crossing has the best cinematography for me though.

Recently watched "Burn After Reading" and 20 minutes in I was about to switch it off as it was so slooooow, however I'm glad I stuck with it as once it gets going it's very funny, like a lot of the Coen's stuff pretty dark but it really made me laugh.

George Clooney is becoming a very good comic actor, he's very much a modern day Cary Grant.

I prefer their more serious films like Blood Simple and Fargo to their out and out comedies. Although even their serious films are funny.

Barton Fink is my fave of theirs. No Country for Old Men was bloody boring.

I like No Country but it fizzles away at the end like a fizzly thing.

They have made some great films. The first film of theirs I saw was Hudsucker Proxy and I had never seen anything like it before.

Agree with Clooney being a great comic actor, Intolerable cruelty is very funny.

Barton Fink is a top flick especially like the bit when Geisler is on the phone and he ends the call "yes yes no alright no" (something like that) and then hangs up. Also any scene with Lipnick is a winner.

I think he has been for a long while, it's certainly the strongest side of his acting. Watching him in, say, O Brother Where Art Thou is great, very funny performer. A terrible Batman though!

"Son, you've got a panty on your head."

O Brother Where Art Thou? still stands as my favourite, with the best soundtrack album ever.

'I'm a 'Dapper Dan' man!'

Goddamn it!

My hair!
