Chevy Chase Page 2

His character in Caddyshack is probably his funniest but Fletch was pretty good and I enjoyed Spies Like Us and the Three Amigos. At least two of the Vacation films were good.

I used to love Chevy Chase. Movies like Caddyshack and the 3 Amigo's made the 80's the cheesiest (and best) decade. Chevy might not have been the best actor, but he made me laugh, and laugh.

I'm glad to hear he's making a bit of a come-back.

Didn't his career take a nose dive after he hosted the Oscars and opened with 'Hello Hollywood phonies' or words to that effect?

I think I need educating.
To date I have never see him do anything remotely funny.

You're not the only one.

But he seems to be a lot of people's hero.
Point me in the direction of the good stuff - then at least I'll feel I've given him a fair crack of the whip.

There is no good stuff. He's always been a massive arse. What was his Saturday Night Live phrase? "Im Chevy Chase and you're not." Ha ha ha - I mean f**k off.

What IS Chevy Chase? I can't imagine him a standup.

Just read Wiki, oh...

I like that kind of arrogance though, which is why I like you so much Godot. Hug

He did a very good brief spot(well IMO anyway) in the Dan Aykroyd film The Couch Trip where he played the father in a condom ad. Always fancied checking out the two films he did with Goldie Hawn but havent caiught either of them yet. Also thought he was good as Geena Davis's boss in Accidental Hero

Yeah, I need a cleaner. Get your fishnets on and come round. You whore.

He did an awful talk show that really should have destroyed his career instead of just damaging it. Community is a great show and I'm happy to see him on it. Unfortunately now though he's more of a punchline.

He's noticably less funny than many others of that era and he does carry an air of arrogance.

That said the early National Lampoon movies and Caddyshack were pretty entertaining.

He turned down the lead in 'American Beauty', don't you know. Said he wanted to focus on 'family films'.

I think he's an amazing comedy actor - just not that funny a guy. His interviews come across as awkward.

Apparently most people in the Hollywood crowd just plain hate his guts because he has been an arse to people because he took the piss out of them a little bit.

But on the other hand I think these 'Hollywood people' are just being led by their ego's and do not understand self depreciating humour - a lot of them expect everybody else to treat them like they are fantastic and Chevy Chase turned it around a little bit and I always liked him for that.

Good point James, poor old Ricky Gervais copped a lot of flack this week too.

Americans, hey? No sense of irony!
