Jim Carrey & Robin Williams etc. Funny? Page 2

Carrey was good in The Truman Show and Williams in The Fisher King, but that's about it. Steve Martin is only slightly less irritating.

Stop right there! Martin is a bona fide comedy genius! (Ok, not anymore, but . . . shut up!)

I'll give you Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid and The Man With Two Brains, and at a pinch The Lonely Guy and Roxanne. but it is poor return when he has made three trillion movies, everyone of which has been an only option in-flight movie when I have had to fly.

And, for me, The Jerk, Bowfinger, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, Planes Trains, the Three Amigos and, most, most importantly, his Stand Up years!

But he has been in many, many more shit films than good, yes.

Interestingly Robin Williams was the original choice for the Riddler in Batman Forever

I would have liked to have seen John Candy and Jim in a film togeher, but he died just as Jim was making a name for himself. I'd rste John, Jim and Dan Aykroyd as funniest men to come out of Canada

Jim Carey is a comedy legend. Bruce Almighty, The Mask and Liar Liar are personal favourites.
Robin Williams, while a very good actor, is a moist eyed camera hogger.

I'm a fan of both, in the right film Jim and Robin can be excellent.

If you want to see an example of how funny Jim can be, check out some of his early work. His standup comedy is highly underrated, its a shame he doesn't do it anymore. Plus his work on the sketch show In Living Color is fantastic, he played some great characters.

Robin Williams is at his best doing standup imo. I've been lucky enough to see his first HBO special, and it was great, and his Live At the MET show is good to (his early 00's HBO special isn't quite as good though).

My favourite Jim Carrey fuilms are Liar Liar, Ace Ventura and The Mask. I'd need to think about my favourite Robin Williams films, I haven't seen as many as I thought (though as a kid Flubber was one of my favourite films)

I was about 7 when Ace Ventura came out and I frigging loved it. So Jim will always have a place in my funny bone.

I like Robin too, but don't last long watching his standup.

Both are great, tho I don't like a lot of films Williams does. Carrey is one of the greatest comedy actors of our day. Then I like Chevvy Chase.

Such as his roles in two Clint Eastwood films: Pink Cadillac and The Dead Pool (Dirty Harry V). I hated his early shouty zany stuff in the Ace Ventura movies, Mask and Dumb and Dumber. The Cable Guy and Me, Myself and Irene were good. Bruce Almighty and The Majestic were tosh. Man on the Moon, the Andy Kaufman biopic, was great. Eternal Sunshine was Being John Malkovich-lite.
