Wow. This is really moving at a quick pace. There seems to be a new post every few seconds! I loving the ideas being thrown up now. I wasn't sure about this idea when I first read it, but I think it's going to be great now.
The Sitcom Project: Devil's Blurb Page 3
I think they should have to follow some rules for example
A You can't tell your victim they are about to die
B You cannot reveal yourself as an agent of heaven/hell nor can you exposed your competitor
C Uhhh...any ideas
Or maybe not maybe the idea of people just completely letting loose is actually quite good doing what ever they want...mmmmm
C) you can not take a soul that is pure already.ie a worker for God a religious person etc. Only the Agnostic or Atheists.
I dunno. I am always getting stuck with C's. LOL
Or it could be that you have to get the soul to break one of the 10 comandments or commit one of the deadly sins before the contract becomes legal.
What happens if you take the wrong soul by mistake? Maybe that's a plot idea?
Lol now Charley I'd think that would be funny I'd think
C Only people over 18 are eligible to have their souls collected
There is that whole clause about children automatically go to heaven just a thought is all
Bam!! Earman now we're cooking good man! potential episode right there loving it!!
Just thinking Dev could have to work opposite a Heaven worker who tries to stop him getting souls. Balance n all. But then that will have to be a new character drafted in.
romeo and juilet? the to workers really like each other? to obvious?
Charley don't worry about drafting in characters we'll shed older weaker characters if the newer ones are better Plus having a heavenly girl in it is better to attact male demographic lol
I just want to check something, is there an American program, quite recent, called Dead like me. I think it was on Sky One and was about people in the after life working in an office collecting dead people. Not too sure, does anyone know this program?
Dead Like Me is an American television comedy-drama created by Bryan Fuller for the Showtime network starring Ellen Muth and Mandy Patinkin as grim reapers in Seattle, Washington.
Eighteen-year-old Georgia "George" Lass (played by Muth) is the show's protagonist and narrator. George dies early in the pilot episode, leaving her parents and younger sister behind at a point when her relationships with them were on shaky ground. She is tapped to become one of the "undead", a grim reaper. She soon learns that a reaper's job is to remove the souls of people, preferably right before they die, and escort them until they move on into their afterlife. The show explores the "lives" and experiences of a small team of such reapers — a team led by Rube (played by Patinkin) — as well as the post-mortem changes in George and George's family as they deal with George's death.
Has anyone here ever seen Dead like Me? It wasn't a sitcom so I wouldn't worry about it being similar to this.

I really like that idea, the Heaven worker could be the office twat (pardon my french) who no one can stand. He is technically the good guy but is casted more like a villian to our anti-heroes
Quote: Gavin @ April 20, 2007, 8:00 PMI thought it'd be good to have it a bit quantum leap were the soul collectors can come back the world of the living as any thing.. for example "cat" to make their job that much more difficult
And that is really good idea too, I loved Quantum leap, I hated the fact Sam never got home (said so in last episode)
Takeabow's probably got a good point. Just concentrate on one episode.
Without trying to confuse things why don't we make it a Sitcom sketch show a la Green Wing. If someone writes the plot and decides which characters appear in which scene we could write the individual scenes in pairs or whatever. Then link them up in to a complete episode.
So we got this soul collector, maybe he is trying to get a promotion but so is the Heaven worker and they are both pitching for the same job as the right hand man of the big boss in their company but that means going in direct competition with each other so they are constantly trying to screw the other over. One is trying to save souls and the other (our anti-hero) is trying to capture them and they are always after the same person in each episode so you get a sceneario like where you have the good angel on one shoulder and the bad devil on the other.
I'm just come up with this as I type so perhaps an idea to bounce off, spark others or polish.
I like the idea of two characters trying to do each oher over, but I'm not sure they should advertise them selves. I would prefer the devil collector to be fed up with his job and trying to get transfered. I mean the higher you get premoted in devils army more horrid things your expected to do right?
I spent quite a long time writing a post on my mobile phone, only for it not to work. The bastard.
So I'll say it again in less words.
To be honest, I'm not so enthusiastic about this idea as you guys are. I didn't think it was going to be paranormal. But instead more like The Office; in the way we don't actually see paper being made. It also sounds too complicated for our first group project and a sitcom in general.
I'm also not too keen on shows with "wacky" twists like, My Hero.
Wouldn't it be better to imply that they work for the devil somehow? Just hint at it and it slowly becomes more obvious every week.
For example; someone(the main character) joins this office and they suspect that their no ordinary debt collector. Slowly unraveling the truth.
Just a thought. I do like David's idea, it'll be easier for a group project.
