You should pitch that to Channel 4.

I think he's been bril, worth the dosh? no, but BBC pay way too much always for their big presenter stars, I think he's better value than Norton and much more talented. The wireless show in particular will leave a hole, that was by far the best Saturday radio show any station ever did.

Don't undersell it Alfred.
I'm not going to read what other people have written because some people's opinions on Ross, despite being there own opinions which they are entitled to, annoy the hell out of me.
Ross is a great presenter. In my opinion he should have quit the BBC after the Andrew Sachs thing. Yes, he shouldn't have done what he did, but I also believe that the BBC don't really deserve his talent. All they seemed to do after he signed that big deal was complain about it.
I hope he goes on to make some great TV shows. I believe he will be back on BBC one day presenting his chat show. In the meantime people need to get off his back. He's great. Better than most of the shit out there.
I've always liked his work. The radio show too like everyone else mentions. Of course when he's been off they had Mark Lamarr, Lisa Tarbuck and Jo Brand at various times. Never as good as Ross but the BBC obviously think they're good replacements. I guess the Russell Brand incident and subsequent decision to make him pre-record the show didn't go down too well with him as well as the proposed pay-cut.
Still - on a positive note it will mean a reduction in the TV licence fee.
Oh yeah that's true, they do sometimes choose very good temporary replacements for him on the radio show. Hopefully that bodes well for a permanent one. Liza Tarbuck is especially good.

And that's what Forums are all about folks!
Anyone remember Chris Evans, the previous 'king' of the BBC? He was making squillions and left.
I wonder what happened to him?
I just read on Broadcast that Graham Norton won't be replacing Jonathan Ross.

What a relief.
That would be like replacing Wimbledon fortnight with the International Skull f**king championships.
They could call it "five Poofs and a Piano."

Maybe I'm not a sports fan but I'd be more inclined to watch the latter.
How do you get four poofs on a piano stool?
Turn it upside down....
I'll get me coat....
So Graham won't be filling Jonathan's slot?
It's not like it's a great slot, is it? friday at 10:35pm. It seems slightly out of the way to me. I think Norton already has the best time on Monday anyways.

I think it's one of the best slots actually - whatever is on in the slot (Ross, Live At The Apollo or film) always gets good ratings.
It's interesting Norton won't be replacing Ross though (see our news section for the full story)... they've just paid £4m for Norton to stay at the BBC, so you'd have thought they'd have wanted to capitalise on that. My only guess is they think Norton is a bit too rude or not mainstream enough to take over the BBC's biggest chat show.
Bet it will be someone awful like Fearn Cotton.
The point is that you can't replace him. They can put another chat show there but it isn't the same thing.
