Comedians who are surprisingly good actors Page 4

Sootyj got an oscar for services to the film industry for never completing his second rotten screenplay.

Steve Coogan has to be the best comedy character actor around today, he is amazing. Billy Connolly is a very good straight actor, but those who should stick to comedy are Jennifer Saunders and Bill Bailey, because they cannot act.

I think Dawn French may have been in some good straight stuff.

Yes I've seen her in a period drama where she was very good, and apparently Victoria Wood's very good in similar stuff but I haven't seen her myself.

Russ Abbott was pretty good in September song. I think those old skool comics of the 70s seem to be masters of all sorts of things.

I thought Shane thingy was ace in Eastenders.

Adam Sandler was very good in Punch Drunk Love.

I recall enjoying an episode of a Jim Davidson sitcom when I was a teenager, and if this old memory serves, he was a particuarly accomplished performer.

And a lovely bloke all round.

"Quad pro quo" - was that a joke about Mac's quad core processors Marc? IT David must be laughing his socks off.

To be fair to you, Marc, I'm distracted by the boobcam on Boob Envy.

Going slightly off topic, I was thinking about actors that have turned to Comedy.

Like Robert De Niro, he was brilliant in Meet the Fockers.

And Arnie in Kindergarten Cop, and Twins.

Can you think of any others?

De Niro's comedies make me sad. I just don't want to see him doing that stuff. Always reminds me of a millionaire paying for a role and ruining the film. Not that I can think of any cases where that's actually happened...
