British Comedy Guide

Into comic book writing? Check this out.

Hi there.

Just plugging Mark Millar's website:

http://www.millarworld.tv/forums.html

If you don't know who this guy is; he's a local Coatbridge lad (Scotland) who made it big in Hollywood with his comic book scripts. He wrote the film 'Wanted' starring James McAvoy and is working on his new film 'Kick Ass'. I feel that he's gonna be the next Tarantino, just look at the trailer for Kick Ass.

I watched him give a lecture at the uni. He says that the US are soaking up all half decent comic book scripts and it's the genre that are most in demand; even if they end up not being produced. So get cracking on one folks.

He's a really nice guy and was quite helpful at the talk after the lecture.

You've got a good chance to hook up with some industry bods from across the pond and some graphic artists on this website.

Looks interesting. Did you see it Gav?

Kick Ass does look really great, but the next Tarantino? As far as I can tell, he's writing the original comic book, but Matthew Vaughn (also the films director), and Jane Goldman (wife of J Ross)have actually written the screenplay. Other people also wrote and directed the film based on the 'Wanted' comic.

Ah superheroes - my childhood dream was to write for Marvel Comics, or even become the next Stan Lee. Reality however turned me into the next Stan Ogden Teary
