Good day y'all. Just wondering if anyone knew the guidelines for appropriate language on BBC 7 at 23:00? I guess it's got to be pretty clean, but there must be some flexibility. Any ideas? I've got a sketch which could work well, but it is a bit blue - featuring words such as foreskin, balls, cock, arse, tits, todger and turd. It could be toned down a bit, but the harsh words are intrinsic to the sketch. Thanks muchly!
Newsjack - Series 2 Page 3
Thanks Griff. I've heard the episode but was still unsure. I suspect you're right though.
I sent some sketches to the show this afternoon and got this email in return.
Thank you for your email. Newsjack has finished production for this series.
But please keep an eye on www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/newsjack or the Writers' Room website for further details of new submission dates.
Many thanks
The Newsjack Team
What does everyone make of this?
Yeah, it's pricey, that Portuguese lager.
Do any of you guys know what format scripts/jokes should laid out in? Do you really have to bother with something like voxpops?

Sorry don't know how to incorporate Jane P's quote. But It has me baffled
I have always used ScriptSmart for Beeb submissions and have had stuff on four different shows over the past 3-4 years.
ScriptSmart is a Word. doc so now I'm confused? Have Newsjack deffo ruled out SS? I know some find it quirky to use but to read is easy (I think)
I have never worried very much about formatting before believeing the SS BBC house style radio template to be correct and never having had any producers etc requesting anything different.
*Scratches head a bit*
Yours
Confused
Hmmm
Just had a trawl through the other thread and it kinda makes sense.
Will just do a manual template as suggested.
begins to understand why I'm not living in my Tuscan villa writing my next big commission:
Nothing wrong with the previous writing. It was that Jeffing Scriptsmart template after all.
Hits delete button.
I don't think ScriptSmart is a deal-breaker Blenki. I got a sketch on last time that was in SS. I just think they prefer that it's not in SS. It can be a bitch to edit, as I'm sure you've noticed. I'd add it to your list of Things That Can't Hurt To Take Into Account.
Think you're right Kevin.
I didn't think about the editing before (which on SS is indeed a right pain in the bum)
You see I had never once considered that my 'good to go straight out of the box comedy gold' would ever ever ever ever require the services of a script editor
I am rubbish at presentation etc does anyone fancy having a peek at my treasures before I send them off?
Sure. Give me an excuse to procrastinate some more.
Thank you sir the future of British comedy is winging it's way to you.

Well you did a lovely job.
Are you sure that adding "all Muslims are c**ts," and "I love Hitler." add all that much to my skits?
And does one really spell Brown "broonuin"?
Question for my fellow BCGers on skit 3 should I send.
A skit I think is pretty good but about a very popular subject.
or a not so good one on an obscure subject?
