Is anyone going to the recording tomorrow night?

I am.

I'm not complaining, just observing that the news week doesn't seem to be the most important thing for the show.

Quite. The person who can write a humourous 30 minute monologue about why the show is still on Radio7 when it should be on Radio4 will get an entire episode to themselves.

And, importantly, the controller of Radio 7 "likes Newsjack"!

Dan

Who is the controller of BBC7 ?

Cheers Griff

Hi all.

I take it, it is safe to assume that if you havent heard anything from Newsjack by now, then my stuff aint being used again?

You might not hear until late tomorrow.

Or at all.

Cheers for that mate. I'll hang fire posting my stuff in the 'failures' until tommorrow then Whistling nnocently

The trouble with the news is that it moves so fast, so something sent to NJ on Monday can be stale by Thursday.

For example, this week I sent a "Miles interview" type sketch about flood warnings/heavy rain where Miles visits Michael Fish in the weatherman's back garden to ask if we should be worried about potential floods.
Michael says "No, no, nothing to worry about."
To which Miles replies "If that's the case... why are you building an ark?"

It continues with other gags, including MF denying that it's an ark, but I'm sure you get the general gist.
Thing is, I haven't seen anything on the box lately about any flooding, so I guess I've shit out there.

I'm a bit confused though about why everyone is so concerned about the poor news week. Last weeks show -just off the top of my head - contained a 3 minute riff on George Michael lyrics from the 80's (possibly 90's I can't consider myself an expert), a self-confessed throwback to 1980's BBC, a 'read my opinion' slot which could have been written anytime since the 9/11 bombings, a Joy Division Newsbullet one-liner and a bunch of chocolate puns amongst many other things where topicality (as opposed to tenuous connection to snow or chocolate) appeared to be a pretty low priority.

I'm not complaining, just observing that the news week doesn't seem to be the most important thing for the show.

This is a good point actually; and it also make me think that Newsjack is no different to RFTP in that a funnier sketch/line totally off brief is better than than something they asked for not quite as good.

I just this minute got the 'you've had something recorded email'. Hopefully, whatever it is, it gets in to the final edit!

Dan

Same here.

Did anyone go to the show last night?

Fingers crossed for us then!

Good luck those who got e mails.
Hope your bits make the edit, let us know which ones they were if you do.

I got an email from them that just said 'unsubscribe'. Is that good?
