Newsjack - Series 2 Page 12

Cheers Griff.

I couldn't find it coz I was looking on the programme page, not the podcasts page, which I didn't know existed.

And another thing - "podcatchers"? Oy vey. I don't want to come over all 90s (I'm a discriminating gerontophile) but IT'S JUST AN MP3!!!

Can you guys PM me to let me know which progs and which sketches to listen out for - I'm too lazy to read the thread but I want to hear your stuff.

Mine was the vox pop about Blair being grilled at the Iraq inquiry.

That was okay. I think the Vox Pop stuff was probably the best. Some stuff didn't work for me, like the Decade stuff, looking back on technology. That was weak.

I especially liked the Linda La Plante themed blouse-button sketch.

It sounded like they didn't manage to get many audience members in. Can anyone confirm this?

Liked the Nick Clegg sketch best. Thought John's Blair enquiry line was the best of the voxpops.

In my despair/fury/self-harm at not getting anything in, I listened last night expecting to find it very poor fare. But I was very pleasantly surprised (especially by all the BCG material, of course!) I thought it was very good indeed.

THe tone of the show seems to have got a lot darker and more cycnical though (maybe just reflecting the news itself). Miles' voice has ceased to be Hugh Laurie self-deprecating buffoonesque in any way and is instead much harder and angrier (as evidenced by the Technology rant). Some of his introductions and asides were quite venemous whereas there seems to have been a little room for good natured silliness in the last series.

Just me, then?

I'm not sure about that. Miles' character has always seemed to me to lend itself well to dark. His main trait is that he's a posh bloke saying things you might not expect a posh bloke to say.

Haven't had a chance to listen to the show yet, congrats to everyone who got stuff in. I was just wondering if any workshoppers had any feedback?

I loved the Pope being knocked over because he looked like a skittle vox pop and the airport sketch the most. There were some cracking jokes, of course not everything is going to work brilliantly but its good that they can try things out.

I didn't get any feedback from my stuff but you wouldn't expect any if the idea didn't work.

On to next week!

Dan

The show sounds really good, can't wait till I get to listen.

Back to the drawing board for me.

Mostly meh I thought (well there goes the career) but some definite laughs. Loved your vox pop Mr Kelly. The airport security sketch and the world's tallest building sketch were great too.

Yeah - I loved the building sketch. My vox pop was the big dogs' fannies one :O

It did the trick!
