Web Site Hosting in UK versus USA?

I shall be building a web site for my brother's business in the UK. I've built and hosted several sites here in the USA, and I'd appreciate some insights from the good people here... specifically:

A) Is a .co.uk site better perceived in the UK than a .com site? Does anyone care?

B) Which (cheap) UK based Hosting Providers would you recommend?

C) Anyone have any compelling reasons to NOT host this UK business site here in the USA?

I know this is a boring subject, but I know many of you are IT-savvy :D

Thanks in advance.

PM a member called ITDavid, he'll put you on the right track.

A) No difference.
B) Me. :)
C) Depends on the nature of the business. If it's just a front/advertising/'corporate site' with info about the company, it doesn't really make any difference. If the business is actually conducting transactions online, then you're into a whole different legal ballgame, and it's probably not worth the hassle of hosting overseas.

But if he's dealing in dodgy videos, then register the company in the Caman Islands, the domain in Germany, have hosting in the US, and route any financial transactions through Switzerland. ;)
