I think people post about liking or disliking shows purely because they like or dislike them. It doesn't have anything to do with snobbishness or whether they see themselves as a writer.

Exactly. But writers are always going to be on the losing side from the moment they express a dislike of a show. The show's fans immediately dismiss the dislike and put it down to 'other' reasons, such as jealousy. Whereas, in reverse, it's never ever queried that a writer has more sinister motives for liking a show.

Similarly, I have often liked a show DESPITE the writing, despite the obvious flaws. But in those instances the shows have offered something that more than compensates for any negative issues I have with it. Case in point: Family Guy - for me riddled with issues but I love watching it, even if I only find 30% of it funny.

We all differ in our tastes. We all repeat ad nauseum that comedy is subjective yet we can't understand why people don't appreciate what we find funny. But that's the nature of the human beast: some people just don't like something. We either need to change your own perspective or change humanity. No prize for guessing which is the easiest.

To be fair, we've also had hundreds of responses on "Suzie Cocktail video", "Who would you go gay for" and "Worst idea for a pizza". It suggests something about us but I'm not sure what.

I'd go gay for a slice of Suzie Cocktail Pizza.

I'd go Suzie Cocktail for a slice of gay pizza.

Now you're talking!
