Congratulations for surviving another year in a godless universe, Mr Murphy. Although the celebration of birthdays is ultimately a futile exercise in marking the time towards our inevitable demise and, hence, ceasing to exist (due to the godless universe), may I take this opportunity to wish you all the best on your birthday and for the coming year... spent in a godless universe when events are determined by the cold laws of physics.

Here's a very layman thought, explained laymanly:
If there are the same amount of particles there have always been on earth, say since to the dawn of man (to make this even simpler) then aren't we made up of those same particles (from years ago) and when we die, won't those particles carry on existing, in a different form, but ultimately forever. Making us, or a part of us, live forever?
