Looking forward to this :)

Although I hope there's not too much bullying towards Karl this time, sometimes that makes me feel a bit uneasy listening to the podcast. Although I know it's all fun.

Karl's 3 Minute Wonder on Channel 4 last year (I think?) Was quite amusing, but I'm not sure how well Karl translates to TV?

I'm sure I'll enjoy this series anyway though.

The person/character has become all a bit too "knowing" for my liking. Found Karl great in the xFM and early podcast days, but he/the character doesn't really work without Gervais & Merchant to pull his strings, imo, so I don't hold any great hopes for this.

I understand what you mean. But I still enjoy the style of humour and topics they discuss in the more recent podcasts. Keep em coming, as far as I'm concerned.

I won't be listening to this. Hated the way Gervais expolited his stupidity / 'genius' to further his career. Now it's Karl's turn to have a shot at stardom, do me a favour!

To further Ricky's career?
I think he co-wrote hit sitcoms to do that.

I'm looking forward to it. Always been a fan of Karl.

As long as it's the three of them I'll watch.
The only thing I saw with Karl on his own was when he did that programme about finding his IQ.
That was almost interesting, but not very entertaining.

This should be good. Karl is always good value.

It's a weird one with Karl...the XFM stuff is obvious comedy gold because the dynamic is obvious: Karl = Jester, Ricky = Lord, Steve = Lackey. But as Tim said Karl is now too "knowing", and in the Ricky Gervais Guides I feel like Ricky is working REALLY HARD to make Karl say something stupid and milking the slightest slip-up for all it's worth because he knows the well is running dry.

I'm interested in this one, although it's ground well trodden for us New Media-ites for a lot of people Karl is still new. My brother, who I went to see Ricky Gervais with the other month, had no idea who Karl Pilkington was...so I would imagine there's a whole world of people about to great a treat in the form of this round-headed wonder!

I'll Sky Plus it. Well, I would if I had Sky Plus.

This Pilkington stuff is half as funny as the persona-stuff you read in critique. Weak, weak, weak. I'll also sky plus it. What the f**k is sky plus?

I can't wait, to be honest. They used to talk about getting Karl a TV show (that is what this is, right..?) back in the XFM days, 7 or so years ago, didn't think it would take this bloody long.

When does it actually start?

I still think they should have made Karl's David Attenborough type show 'Do we need them?' :D

I take it this is An Idiot Abroad, I got this on DVD the other day, watched 5 episodes so far and really enjoying it, seems like the perfect project for Karl Pilington - though I'm sure that announcer calls him Pilkinger? Dunno if it's me, intentional, or unintentional...

I'd say I'm liking Pilkington more than Merchant, maybe as much as Ricky Gervais, even if he's not as talented as those two.

Here's a more recent thread about it https://www.comedy.co.uk/forums/thread/18538/
:)

I haven't noticed the 'Pilkinger' thing. Maybe he just has weird accent.

Cheers. You'll have to look out for the Pilkinger thing if you gt the chance! Shouldn't that other thread be in this section though?
