Hope this comedy Showcase one-off gets a series. Although it could do with some better written scenarios I really laughed a lot at Rhys Darby's horrible obnoxious failed magician. He haqs so little in the way of redeeming features he is a bit of a Viz comic strip character.
As much as I love Rhys Darby, especially as Murray in F.O.T.C. I didn't really like this new character at all. He had no redeeming features, so the character felt one dimensional. His P.A/sidekick had more depth and was better performed.
I pretty much agree with Leevil. A few nice bits but a bit flat.
One dimensional is fair comment, it's pretty much a slapstick comic strip character.
Shouldn't any discussion of this pilot remain in the alloted 'Comedy Showcase' thread? Shouldn't have its own thread in 'British Sitcom' until it has been commissioned, surely?
