Thanks

Hi Griffin
I've just started out too, only done three gigs thus far.
I couldn't hear this very well but this is the fault of my computer. You are very likeable on stage and appear confident even if you don't feel it. This is most of the way there, as far as I'm concerned. A comedian you feel ingratiated to can say almost anything. You're also not too nervous to react to the crowd (even at gigs that are going well for me I sort of get tunnel vision and can't be as quick as I would be in real life so I think you did really well there).
The only thing I'd say is don't tell the audience you're nervous. Sometimes this puts them on edge. It didn't seem to with this crowd, it seemed like a new act night was it? I'd say just get up there and pretend you have no nerves at all.
You did well with the set list thing. Even though you must have been panicking that you'd forgotten your material with the nerves, you made a joke out of it and appeared relaxed.
You're a good performer. Keep at it.
Where are you based? What's the venue?
Hey Sglen,
Glad to see I'm not the only newcomer at the moment! The confidence thing I've been told will come with experience, and a couple of people have agreed with you when you say not to mention my nervousness> I think I'll be leaving that part out
Yeah it was kind of a new comedians night, myself and a friend have just started together and the promoters who set us up with our first gig put us up in this one. There were 3 other acts aside from us so it took the pressure of failure away and it helped that some of the crowd I knew.. well 4 or 5 people out of 50.
The venue was The George Hotel, down a little street called The Land of Green Ginger in Hull. Nice little venue, and Hull (where I'm based) so far seems to be quite good for comedy, no London, but definitely nothing to complain about.
Oh and the set list thing im gunna solve by writing it on my arm typical I know.
Where are you based? how have your gigs gone so far?
The friend I mentioned above also has a video up: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4qN0kFpi2tw

You're both coming off well there! Nice one! Yep, write it on your hand. You can pretend to know what you're talking about that way Forgot to say before but someone told me to move the mic stand to the side or back of the stage when you get up. It has the effect of making you look more confident because you're not tempted to fiddle with it or hide behind it.
I'm based in Manchester. Started about a month ago. First couple of gigs went really well and lulled me into a false sense of security. Last gig was a gong show and went badly. A couple more gigs booked in this year so I'm forced to carry on even if I've been a bit knocked (which is a good thing) - the more you fail the more you'll try to improve.
Good luck with it all!
